Principal honoured at ACEL WA Awards

Cheryl Townsend, Principal of Ballajura Community College, has been presented with a Certificate in Excellence in Educational Leadership at the ACEL WA Awards 2017.

The ceremony is an annual highlight for the Australian Council for Education Leaders (ACEL) WA Branch.

It is through these awards that ACEL WA honours educational leaders who have made a significant contribution to education, educational leadership and the improvement of student and organisational outcomes.

Mr Ian Walters, Chair of the College Board congratulated Mrs Townsend on this prestigious award.

“Mrs Townsend is an exceptional leader,” he said. “There are many ways she contributes time and effort to continuously improve educational outcomes for all BCC students.”

The work of each nominee is reviewed against set criteria based on the AITSL Australian Professional Standards and evidence provided must demonstrate an impact at system, state and/or national level.

Mrs Townsend said she was humbled to be nominated for the award and proud of the College and its students.

“At Ballajura Community College everything we do is to enhance the educational opportunities for our students,” she said. “This accolade should be shared with the whole school community, and is evidence that we are making a difference.”
