Senior Boys Storm into Semi-Finals with Commanding Win Over Safety Bay SHS

In a thrilling quarter-final clash of the SSWA Shield Competition, Ballajura Community College’s Senior Boys delivered a statement performance against Safety Bay SHS – a specialist soccer school – securing a dominant 3-0 victory on home turf.

From the opening whistle, the Balla Boyz set the tone with fierce tackles from Mukhtar and Anwar, establishing physicality and intent. James orchestrated the midfield with composure and vision, while Zain, Nikola, and Yonis kept the Safety Bay defence on high alert with relentless pressure and attacking flair.

Zain opened the scoring with a clinical strike, followed by a well-worked team move that saw Nikola double the lead just before halftime. The boys entered the break buzzing, fully aware they had outplayed their opponents in the first half.

The second half mirrored the intensity of the first, until a controversial refereeing decision saw one of Ballajura’s players sent off—an incident that left many stunned. Undeterred, the Balla Boyz dug deep and showed their resilience. Zain capped off the night with a determined solo effort, sealing the win with his second goal.

Safety Bay also saw a player dismissed late in the game for dissent, but the drama didn’t overshadow what was a high-quality, competitive fixture. Ballajura’s tactical discipline, physicality, and attacking prowess earned them a well-deserved spot in the semi-final.

The Balla Boyz now turn their focus to Wednesday’s semi-final away at Mazenod College. A win there will see them contest the SSWA Shield Final on Tuesday 9th September at Ashfield Soccer Club, with kick-off at 5:30pm.
