Students Deliver Tribute to Fallen Solider at the Indigenous Veterans Service

Last week, Polly Farmer’s Follow the Dream students Kasharla and Mitchell, and our AIEO Ms Narrier, all attended the Indigenous Veteran’s Service at Kings Park on behalf of the BCC Follow the Dream program.

This year’s event was a special service because a number of Aboriginal soldiers in WWI who gave their lives were finally given official recognition for their sacrifice, and added to the State Memorial in Kings Park.

The BCC Follow the Dream program were invited to research and speak about the fallen soldier – Private Thomas Henry Ford – and deliver a commemoration speech for the members of the Ford family in attendance.

Kasharla delivered an amazing tribute, speaking about the bravery and kindness that Thomas Henry Ford was known for.  Her heartfelt address in front of hundreds was incredibly meaningful to the Ford family, and afterwards she joined them in placing a plaque for Thomas Henry Ford on the Honour Avenue.
