Science & Engineering Challenge

The Year 10 ACE class attended the Science and Engineering Challenge Day at Claremont Showgrounds on Thursday, 2 May.

The whole day event hosted students from a number of different high schools around Perth. Students competed in a variety of Engineering challenges against other schools, competing to win a place in the state final.

Ballajura Community College students from the Year 10 academic extension class (28) demonstrated impeccable behaviour and REACH values throughout the day, promoting a positive image of our school. The challenges involved creativity, innovation, problem solving and team work.

The team was in 3rd place overall at half time, but some excellent bridge building from two other schools – tiny sticks supporting 4.6kg – meant that our chances to place were diminished in the afternoon.

Despite this, there were some notable moments of genius, with groups of Ballajura Community College students winning in their individual categories. They deserve a special mention!
