logo100x70The 2008 Wall of Fame Inductees

The 2008 Wall of Fame Inductees were honored at a special ceremony at the College on Tuesday 23rd September.

To be eligible for induction to the Wall of Fame nominations are submitted to the Honours and Colours Committee.  Recipients must have won an award or title at either state or national level or been selected in a national team.  The recipient will have been recognized by an accredited state or national organization.  In addition the person must have exhibited a positive role model whilst at the College and the wider community.

2006 and 2007 Wall of Fame inductees who attended the evening were welcomed and acknowledged as fine ambassadors of the College.  They included Jimmy Dang, Jason Davies, Jason Gabriel, Alecia Lovelock, Alyce Patroni, Kylie Patroni and Shane Priolo.


This year there were 5 inductees to the 2008 Wall of Fame.  Ms Rita Saffioiti Member for West Swan and the Guest speaker Mr Ray Boyd Principal of West Beechboro Primary School, assisted with the presentations.



 
2008 Inductees

                  Ashlee Kovalevs

Year 10 student Ashlee Kovalevs’ talents and achievements are in public speaking.  In 2008 she was a national junior finalist in the Rostrum Voice of Youth Public Speaking Competition held in Sydney.

This public speaking competition is open to all students in public and private schools.  In attaining this exceptional level Ashlee competed in 5 stages of public speaking commencing at the school level and progressing through state finals to reach the National level when she was placed 3rd.

Ashlee’s oratory skills also saw her selected as a student representative on the premier’s ANZAC tour of Gallipoli and the Western Front. Now as a senior student, Ashlee coaches younger students for Interschool Debating contests.

Brenden Jaeschke

Like many other students Brenden Jaeschke began at BCC in Year 7.  In Year 8 his Homeroom teacher Ms Bumback (now Ms Rodic) reported “Brendon is a bright inquisitive student who with increased dedication to his studies will certainly succeed.”  Succeed he did!  Brendon left BCC in 2004 to go to TAFE.

His successful career pathway in Floor and Wall tiling was recognized when he was awarded WA Apprentice of the Year in 2007.  In 2008 at the national level, World Skills Australia awarded Brenden a silver medal.  Brenden now has his own business and employs his own apprentice, an ex BCC student.  In addition he offers work placements for our Year 11 students.  He is a great ambassador for the College.

Theresa Marazatto

Theresa Marazzato  a Year 10 student (along with  Caitlin Skinner) has been named national champions in 2007 and 2008 in the 11 to 16 year old age group.

They are the 1st Western Australians to have been selected in the Australian team and leave next week to compete in the 2008 World Age Group competition in Scotland.

Caitlin Skinner  a Year 11 student (along with  Theresa Marazzato) has been named national champions in 2007 and 2008 in the 11 to 16 year old age group.


They are the 1st Western Australians to have been selected in the Australian team and leave next week to compete in the 2008 World Age Group competition in Scotland.

Tessa Alver

Tessa, a Year 9 student has been competing in Calisthenics for 8 years.  She represented WA in 2003 at Sub Junior level, in 2006 at Junior Level and this year at Intermediate level was part of the gold medal award winning state team at the Australian Championships.

Tessa also contributes to her chosen sport by giving many hours each week coaching younger teams as well as her outstanding commitment to her own elite performances.
